Glossary of terms used about Hoya
Epiphyte
A plant that grows on another plant. Hoya are referred to as epiphyte because they like to grow in the crevices of trees in the forest.
Peduncle
The hoya’s small flower stem. Flowers form at the end of the peduncle, and for most hoya species, will flower from the same peduncle year after year (so you will want to take care of your peduncles).
Whip
The long bare (leafless) part of the hoya vine. In nature, its job is to seek out tree branches to use as supports as the hoya climbs higher into the forest canopy. These long tendrils will eventually grow aerial roots and leaves.
